Brian Humphreys was on a roll Friday at the 107th Oregon Amateur golf championship.

The recent Camas High grad advanced to the final with a pair of blowout wins. He beat Max Murai of Beaverton, Ore., 6 and 4 in the quarterfinals, and then topped Montana Frame of Reedsport, Ore., 6 and 5 in the semifinals.

Up next is No. 5 seed Conner Barr of Beaverton in the final today at Glaze Meadow Course at Black Butte Ranch in Black Butte Ranch, Ore. The final is 36 holes and starts at 8 a.m.

Humphreys played a solid round in the quarterfinal. He took the lead for good on the fifth hole, making par while Murai made bogey.

Humphreys never lost a hole to Frame and took the lead on the third hole with a par. He made birdies on holes 5, 6 and 7 to go 4-up and added one more birdie at No. 10.

This is the second year in a row a golfer from Clark County has reached the final of the Oregon Amateur. Alistair Docherty won last year at The Reserve.

This year, Docherty is playing the Arnold Palmer Cup in Formby Golf Club in Merseyside, England — a Ryder Cup-style competition of the top college golfers from the United States and Europe.

On Friday, the teams played foursome matches — alternate shot and better ball.

Docherty, a Union High graduate who played for Chico State, was paired with Will Gordon from Vanderbilt. Docherty and Gordon halved their alternate shot match, but lost the better ball match 1 up.

After the first day of three-day competition, Team Europe led Team USA 6-4.

The event continues with the first of two days of singles matches.

At the U.S. Girls Junior Qualifier in Woodburn, Ore., Hailey Oster of Camas was the top local finishing, placing in a tie for eighth with an 81. The top five golfers advanced to the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur. Oster was five shots off making the top five.

Other locals included Elise Filuk (86) and Emma Cox (91), both of Camas.
