Prep highlights: Mountain View dominating 3A district golf after day 1

Mountain View golfers dominated the first day of the 3A district tournament Tuesday at Heron Lakes.

The top five individual were all Thunder golfers led by Grady Millar’s 4-under-par 68.

He has a seven-shot lead over teammates Alex Rigby and Braden Kendrick who each had 75.

Heavy rains interrupted the 4A district tournament, also at Heron Lakes. Just 13 holes were completed.

Union’s Mason Bluestein had the early lead with a 52, three strokes better than Battle Ground’s Dayton Mahoney (55) and four ahead of Camas’ Ryan Wang (56).

Both tournaments are schedule to finish Wednesday.

Stars of the day

  • Ellie Wilson, Ridgefield girls soccer, was named player of the match after scoring two goals and assisting on another in the Spudders’ 7-0 win at Mark Morris.
  • Shaela Bradley, La Center girls soccer, had a double hat trick with her six goals and also added an assist on senior night in the 9-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Remi Buckley, Columbia River girls soccer, scored two goals and had two assists in an 8-0 win over Hudson’s Bay.
  • Shaylie Haij, King’s Way Christian girls soccer, had two goals and two assists for the Knights’ in their 5-0 win over Castle Rock.
  • Esther Langeliers, La Center volleyball, had 15 kills in the Wildcats’ 3-0 win over Castle Rock.
  • Ellie Mathison, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs as the Knights’ beat Stevenson 3-0.
  • Samia Rudd, Stevenson volleyball, had 15 digs, seven kills and three aces for the Bulldogs against King’s Way Christian.
