EUGENE, Ore. — Police have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a woman at an apartment near South Eugene High School.

Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin on Monday identified the suspect as Vyacheslav Leonidovich Stefanskiy. Besides facing a murder charge, Stefanskiy has three probation violations out of Multnomah County.

Stefanskiy is listed as a transient but according to his Facebook page, had lived in Vancouver.

Officers found 34-year-old Marissa Nevills with serious injuries late Thursday after responding to a dispute at her apartment. Medics took her to a Springfield hospital, where she died.
