A house fire Thursday morning in east Vancouver displaced four adults along with three dogs and a cat.

Firefighters were called to 3206 N.E. Edelweiss Ave. at about 2:50 a.m. for the reported fire and put out a blaze that originated in an upstairs closet, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said.

The fire burned the bedroom and some of the roof, Scarpelli said.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded and provided the displaced occupants temporary housing and other basic needs.

Scarpelli said the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and that it did an estimated $10,000 in damage.
