Virgil Green will take another swing at a breakthrough win on June 11. The Vancouver boxer fights in the main event of Battle of the Boat 106 at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma.

Green (11-4, 4 knockouts) will take on Jonathan Chicas of San Francisco (14-2, 7 knockouts) in a 10-round welterweight match that headlines a six-bout card. It is Green’s first bout since losing by technical knockout to Miguel Cruz in December in Bethlehem, Pa.

Matchmaker Andy Nance said he is excited about the match because both 27-year-old fighters have plenty to gain from this 142-pound contest. Green, Nance said, is a hungry fighter motivated to correct the errors that cost him in his nationally-televised loss to Cruz. Chicas has won six of his last seven bouts, most recently a January TKO as an underdog over Bilal Mahasin in Oakland. His record does not count his victory in a Big Knockout Boxing event at Las Vegas in April of 2015.
