Prep highlights: Columbia River girls soccer team earns No. 1 seed to district

Ava Greer, Ellie Walker and Katie Anthony each scored goals as the Columbia River girls soccer team clinched a share of its fifth consecutive league championship with a 3-0 win over Washougal.

River finished tied a top the 2A Greater St. Helens League standings with Ridgefield and Hockinson at 10-2.

Through tiebreakers, River will take the No. 1 seed to the 2A district tournament, which starts Saturday. The Chieftains will play the winner of Thursday’s Rochester-Centralia game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Kiggins Bowl in the first-round of the double-elimination tournament.

Ridgefield will take the No. 2 seed and host Aberdeen on Saturday. Hockinson is the No. 3 seed, meaning the Hawks will travel to Tumwater to face Black Hills at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Stars of the day

• Zoe McBride, Prairie volleyball, had 17 kills and 11 digs as the Falcons beat Evergreen to improve to 10-0 in the 3A Greater St. Helens League.

• Elisa Haug, Hudson’s Bay volleyball, had 10 kills, 3 blocks and 5 blocks as Bay beat Fort Vancouver to finished tied for third place in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with Mountain View at 5-5.
