Community notebook: 26 SW Washington runners finish Boston Marathon

All 26 runners from Southwest Washington who registered for Monday’s Boston Marathon completed the world-famous race.

Fastest among them was Taylor Halvorson of White Salmon. He completed the 26.2-mile course from suburban Hopkinton to downtown Boston in 3 hours, 1 minute and 57 seconds.

Twenty runners from Clark County finished the race. They ranged in age from 35-year-old Stefanie Draper (3:28:28) to 67-year-old Thomas Kovarsic (4:20:53). The list of area finishers is in the Community Scoreboard.

Union lacrosse wins twice

The Union lacrosse team opened league play with a 8-4 win over Camas on Wednesday.

Five players scored for the Titans, led by two apiece from Nate Lindquist and Isaiah Pratt.

That win came after a 9-8 overtime loss at Sherwood, Ore., on Monday. Linquist scored with six seconds left in regulation to force overtime, but Sherwood notched the game-winner late in the four-minute sudden-death period.

Prairie rugby loses close match

The Prairie rugby team hung tight with Reynolds (Ore.), but lost 26-22 after a late rally by Reynolds. Logan Jacques was named man of the match for Prairie.

Prairie’s next match is on the road against Newberg (Ore.) on Saturday.

• The Union rugby team blew out Oregon City on Saturday 99-0. No details were reported.

• The Battle Ground Lady Pack remained undefeated with a 20-19 win over the Renegades. No details were reported.
