Nominees for the Week 8 spring sports prep athletes of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian spring sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the period ending May 12.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

To avoid vote manipulation, voting is restricted by IP address. That means people voting while connected to a public WIFI access may be unable vote. We suggest voting be done by private internet access or through your cellular provider.

DAMON CASETTA-STUBBS, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN BASEBALL: Casetta-Stubbs allowed just two hits over 12 innings with 25 strikeouts in two wins in the district tournament.

HANNAH GIANAN, CAMAS GIRLS TENNIS: Gianan didn’t drop a set in winning the 4A singles district title, including a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kenzie Schreiner of Union in the final.

JULIA STEPPER, WOODLAND GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: Stepper won the 100, 200, long jump and helped Woodland to a 400 relay win in the 2A sub-district meet.

LUCAS TISDALE, PRAIRIE BOYS SOCCER: Tisdale had two goals and two assists in two playoff wins for the Falcons, who advanced to 3A state tournament.

ETHAN TONDER, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: Tonder won the shot put with a mark that ranked No. 2 in the state at Class 3A and was the runner-up in the discus at the 3A district meet.
