Nominees for The Columbian 2023-24 Week 27 prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger

Nominees from Seton Catholic, Prairie, Columbia River, Camas and Ridgefield

Here are the nominees for The Columbian 2023-24 Week 27 high school athlete of the week, sponsored by Killer Burger.

Voting will continue until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

To avoid vote manipulation, participants are being asked to log-in with their Columbian.com account or to sign-up for a free account before casting a vote.

Nominees are selected by The Columbian staff after a review of the previous week’s results. Suggestions for nominees can by made by anyone, but must be received by 6 p.m. Sunday for consideration.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the nominees:

ELLIE FORSTER, SETON CATHOLIC SOFTBALL: The senior went 6 for 7 with five runs, a double, two triples and home run and 5 RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Castle Rock.

J.P. GUZMAN, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS SOCCER: The junior had five goals and one assists in two wins for the Rapids in the 2A district playoff.

MADDY MOORE, PRAIRIE GIRLS GOLF: The senior shot 177 for 36 holes to win the 3A district title by 27 strokes at Lewis River Golf Course.

GABRIELLA THOMPSON, CAMAS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The sophomore won the high jump (5-0), triple jump (33-7.5) and place second in the javelin (111-4) at the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League district meet.

ROCCO WRIGHT, RIDGEFIELD BASEBALL: The senior threw a pair of complete-game shutouts with 12 strikeouts, helping the Spudders clinch a state berth.
