Boys basketball: Hockinson 63, R.A. Long 59

The Hawks outlasted visiting R.A. Long in a physical 2A GSHL opening game.

The two teams combined for 33 foul calls and 47 free-throw attempts.

“It was a grind all night,” Hockinson coach Jon Warner said.

Hockinson’s Micah Paulsen had to sit with foul trouble for a good portion of the first half after picking up his third personal foul, and then got a fourth in the third quarter. He still scored 12 points.

Dakota Souders and Ki Haden each had 15 points to led the Hawks in scoring.
