Central Park — The Fort Vancouver Lions Club donated a bronze lion statue to the Washington State School for the Blind on May 17. The school’s mascot is a lion, but there wasn’t a lion statue anywhere on campus prior to the donation. The statue was installed on a brick platform outside the school, and will have two plaques commemorating the donation from the Lions as part of their centennial celebration. One of the plaques will be in Braille. After the dedication, Lions led students on tours of the statue so they could get close to it and feel the new statue.
