A far-right protest group whose Portland demonstrations often lead to violence will go to two Clark County college campuses next week.
Members of Patriot Prayer will protest Initiative 1639, November’s gun safety initiative, Monday at Clark College and Tuesday at Washington State University Vancouver. Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson of Vancouver estimates there will be about 40 protesters at the respective campuses, handing out fliers and encouraging people to vote against the ballot measure.
Dave Christensen, who started a mega-yacht business in his hometown that catered to the rich and sometimes to the famous, died Monday evening. He was 87.
Christensen, who’d been afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, died at an assisted living home in Vancouver surrounded by his three daughters, said his eldest daughter, Kathy Maynard of Vancouver.
GOLDENDALE — Each year, Meet the Candidates Night at Goldendale Grange Hall is the same. Area residents gather in the Klickitat County town for a night of introductions and a few answers from local candidates.
But this year, they had company.
Goldendale Grange Hall was filled to the brim with residents and out-of-towners alike all hoping to hear from the 3rd Congressional District candidates, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, and Democratic challenger Carolyn Long of Vancouver. It even drew a TV crew from Portland.
Vancouver police are looking for a man who robbed a Subway restaurant in east Vancouver on Sunday.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. to 13521 S.E. Third Way, just north of the intersection of 136th Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who allegedly jumped into two teenage sisters’ vehicle Tuesday night and tried to take the keys.
The suspect, pictured in a Facebook post by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, confronted the sisters, 13 and 18 years old, around 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hazel Dell Safeway, 408 N.E. 81st St.
