Having Lincoln Krog back was a big difference for the Stevenson Bulldogs.

After being sidelined in last week’s loss at Irrigon, Ore., the senior did a bit of everything to lead the Bulldogs to a 28-19 win over Seton Catholic in a 1A Trico League game on Saturday.

Krog rushed for 199 yards and one touchdown, caught four passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns and added a key interception for the Bulldogs.

“Our running game really got going today,” Krog said. “Last week we kind of had to rely on our passing game. Having me back, we were able to run up the middle and see what was working.”

After the two teams opened the game by exchanging interceptions, Stevenson got on the board first on a 15-yard pass from Brandon Connell to Krog in the first quarter.

Seton Catholic countered with a playmaker of its own — Taj Muhammad.

The speedy senior had a 41-yard punt return that set up the Cougars’ first score — a 3-yard run by Muhammad.

Muhammad gave Seton Catholic a 13-7 lead early in the third quarter when he returned an interception 55 yards for a score.

The lead was brief, as on Stevenson’s next play from scrimmage, Connell and Krog connected again for a 71-yard touchown pass play, and the Bulldogs led 14-13.

Krog’s 32-yard run set up Connell’s 3-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter to extend Stevenson’s lead to 21-13.

The Cougars responded by driving downfield on their next possession and were looking to perhaps tie the game when Krog intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the threat.

Stevenson then drove 80 yards on seven plays, the last being Krog’s 14-yard touchdown run.

Seton closed with 28-19 on Luke Pitzer’s 10-yard touchdown reception, but Stevenson recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal the win.

Stevenson (3-1, 1-0 Trico) returns home next Friday for a showdown with La Center. Seton Catholic (3-2, 0-1) travels to play Columbia-White Salmon.
