Jaydia Martin got a rebound basket with 10 seconds to play to complete a big fourth quarter for the Hudson’s Bay girls basketball team, lifting the Eagles to a 43-40 non-league win over Skyview on Friday.

“It was just a lot of desire,” Bay coach Michael Rainville said. “We drove to the basket, got fouled, got some offensive rebounds and made some baskets.”

The Eagles erased 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and the teams traded the lead over the final two minutes.

Skyview took a 40-39 when Martin drew a foul with 13 seconds left. Martin hit the first free throw to tie the game. She missed the second, but got her own rebound and scored to put the Eagles up 42-40.

After Skyview missed a shot on the other end, Martin was fouled again, and hit one of two free throws to seal it.

The Eagles converted 16 of 24 free throws in the fourth quarter.

“We discovered that Skyview was in the bonus pretty quick in the second half,” Rainville said. “We went at them, and basically won it from the free throw line.”

Martin led all scorers with 19 points.

Kazz Parks had 13 points to lead Skyview, and Emily Norton added 10.
