Letter: Herrera Beutler should speak up

By Kevin Linder, Vancouver
Published: July 26, 2019, 6:00am

After failing to vote to condemn President Trump’s racist tweet, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, claimed she will be sending a letter to Trump explaining why she believes his language was “harmful.” Will she make this letter public? Or does she so fear Trump’s wrath that she will compound her demonstrated cowardice by simply assuring us that the letter did indeed sternly and powerfully rebuke the president?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
