One person was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a head-on collision involving three vehicles in Washougal.

The injured driver was taken to a local hospital. Occupants of the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries, according to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 11:08 a.m. to the 800 block of Southeast Washougal River Road for a three-vehicle crash. The road was closed in both directions before Milepost 3 for about 2½ hours for the crash investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of a black SUV needed to be extricated from their vehicle. The other people involved were able to get out of their vehicles on their own, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.

Slickness on the roadway may have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

“As a reminder, fresh rainfall after a significant dry spell results in oily and slick pavement,” the sheriff’s office said. “Please drive with caution.”
