The 4A Greater St. Helens League district boys tennis singles champion and runner-up have booked spots to the state tournament in May based on Friday’s results at the 4A Bi-District Tournament at Boeing Tennis Center in Kent.

Singles champion Akash Prasad and runner-up Shiva Naravanan, both of Camas, will finish among the top eight. They each have one loss.

Prasad beat Skyview’s Jonathan Hutley, and the best Hutley can do is ninth if he wins both Saturday matches and be an alternate for state.

In doubles, district champion Kyle Mosier and Jacob Flentke of Union won both their matches Friday to reach the semifinals and a spot to state. Teammates Brayden Shoemaker and Gabe Hapke, who were district runner-up, stayed alive in the consolation bracket.

Skyview’s team of Keagan O’leary and Henry Liles were eliminated in a pigtail match Thursday.

3A BI-DISTRICT — Mountain View will have at least a singles player and one doubles team at state in May after results Friday at Sprinker Tennis Center in Tacoma.

Vincent Hsu and James Bertheau had a first-round bye and then won their quarterfinal 6-0, 6-0 to lock in a state berth.

Freshman Kevin Kim won both his singles matches to reach the semifinals and earn a state spot. Also, Lu Abuizzah remained alive in singles in hopes for a fifth-place finish and spot to state.

Prairie’s Elijah Nelson had a first round bye and then won 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals to earn his state berth.

Prairie’s doubles team of Ethan Hefflin and Cole Harmon went 2-1 to stay alive in the tournament. They need to win twice Saturday to get fifth place and the final seed to state.

Evergreen’s doubles team of Porter Lorange and G Aujla lost both their matches and were eliminated.
