Week 1 fall sports prep athlete of the week: Chloe Johnson, Washougal slowpitch softball

Chloe Johnson of the Washougal slowpitch softball team is the Week 1 fall sports prep athlete of the week, earning 349 votes of the 1,060 votes cast.

Johnson went 8 for 11 with two doubles, a triple and eight RBI in three games for the Panthers last week.

Athlete-of-the-week winners may not be nominated for the honor again until the postseason, and nominations are limited to one per calendar month.

Here are the other Week 1 nominees.

  • MERI DUNFORD, PRAIRIE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Dunford won the seniors race at the Capital Invitational, posting the best time in all races of 12:55 for 2.23 miles.
  • GRACE HAY, WOODLAND GIRLS SOCCER: Hay had seven goals and one assist in three wins for the Beavers.
  • GRAHAM MOODY, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS GOLF: Moody was 10-under par in two matches, including a school record 6-under 28 at Fairway Village.
  • DELANEY NICOLL, RIDGEFIELD VOLLEYBALL: Nicoll had 30 kills, nine digs and thee blocks in two wins for the Spudders.
