Letter: Improve local bus service

By Delores Ruge, Vancouver

I am all for improving the bus service in Vancouver. I have been taking the buses and more recently the C-Van service. Bus No. 37 has been available to catch on westbound Mill Plain at Broadway and 15th Street as it makes its way around the center of downtown Vancouver, then heads east again on Mill Plain. It serves many medical offices and a variety of businesses for shopping and eating. As I read the changes of the route with the new Vine program, it will go south on Fort Vancouver Way then west on Evergreen and south, then the same streets east to Mill Plain.

By not going all the way to Washington on 15th means it will not be serving either the Arnada or Hough neighborhoods. I know I am not the only person without a car. With the change of the route, I will have to walk six or seven blocks farther to catch the bus and to return home afterwards. Perhaps they are thinking we could catch another bus and then transfer, but any of the buses running north and south through the Hough community run so seldom it would increase our travel time and discourage our use of the bus service.
