Prep highlights: Hockinson girls soccer beats Columbia River

Abby Dombrow scored two goals, the most important coming in the second overtime as Hockinson girls soccer beat Columbia River 2-1 Thursday in 2A Greater St. Helens League action.

Dombrow’s golden goal scored with 2 minutes to go in second half of OT.

The Hawks pulled even with the Rapids atop the league standings, both 6-2 with 18 points.

Avery Seigel scored for the Rapids in the first half off an assist from Andie Buckley.

Dombrow scored her first goal of the match in the first half and the teams were knotted at 1-1 at the half.

Stars of the day

  • Grady Millar, Alex Rigby, Spencer Moody, Mountain View boys golf, tied for medalist honors with 35s at Fairway Village as the Thunder beat Kelso and wrapped up the 3A GSHL league title with a 7-1 record.
  • Jay Nickerson, R.A. Long boys golf, was medalist with an even-par 37 at Tri-Mountain in a match against Ridgefield.
  • Evan Chen, Camas boys golf, fired an even-par 36 at Camas Meadows for medalist honors in a 155-163 win over Union that clinched the 4A GSHL title for Camas.
  • Alex Salinas, Battle Ground boys golf, had a 2-over-par 38 at Club Green Meadows for medalist honors as the Tigers beat Heritage.
  • Brecken Desmet, Prairie boys golf, was medalist with a 2-over-par 37 at Lewis River in win against Evergreen.
  • Cohen Thomas, Fort Vancouver boys cross country, won the three-way meet against Ridgefield and R.A. Long with a time of 18:16.47 on the 5,000-meter course at Abrams Park.
  • Tyla Engstrom, Ridgefield girls cross country, won the three-way meet against Fort Vancouver and R.A. Long with a time of 22:44.19 on the 5,000-meter course at Abrams Park.
  • Adam Nixon, Mark Morris boys cross country, won the 5,000-meter race at Lake Sacajawea in 17:01.01 as the Monarchs beat Columbia River and Woodland.
  • Hanna Bailey, Columbia River girls cross country, won the 5,000-meter race at Lake Sacajawea in 20:41.70 against runner from Mark Morris and Woodland.
  • Jessica Barrett, Seton Catholic girls soccer, scored the game-winning goal off an assist by Hannah Jo Hammerstrom with 4 minutes to play to beat Castle Rock 1-0.
  • Lauren Rabus, Washougal girls soccer, scored three goals as the Panthers beat Mark Morris 5-0.
  • Madisen Newbury and Shaela Bradley, La Center girls soccer, both scored two goals and had two assists in a 5-0 win against Columbia at White Salmon.
