A man was fatally shot Tuesday morning after reportedly kicking in the door of a unit at an apartment complex in east Vancouver

Vancouver police responded shortly before 9 a.m. for a reported disturbance with a weapon at the Fisher’s Mill Apartments in the 1000 block of Southeast 160th Avenue, according to a police department news release.

A resident called 911 to report they shot a man, whom they knew, after he kicked in their door. The caller said the man had been threatening one of their family members, police said.

Arriving officers said they found the man dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of either person.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will release cause and manner of death and the man’s identity.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
