A Ridgefield man was arrested Monday night in connection with two armed robberies at a Salmon Creek strip mall.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded to 14313 N.E. 20th Ave., for reports of a suspicious person. An employee at Doughboy’s Pizza reported seeing the same man who had robbed the pizza shop at gunpoint Friday enter another business in the strip mall, a sheriff’s office news release states.

A few minutes later, someone called 911 from Dream Nails to report a man attempted to rob the salon with a gun and ran away, according to the news release. Deputies and a K-9 searched for the man, but couldn’t find him.

That evening, a nearby resident who’d seen images of the suspect on social media reported they had video of the man and his vehicle just after the Dream Nail robbery, the news release said.

Later, deputies found the suspect’s vehicle parked at Winco, 9700 N.E. Highway 99. The suspect was still wearing the same clothes he could be seen in after the nail salon robbery, the sheriff’s office stated.

After a short chase, deputies arrested Clark J. Mattox, 37, on suspicion of first-degree assault, robbery and attempted robbery, along with outstanding warrants, according to the news release.

The sheriff’s office’s Tactical Detective Unit is continuing to investigate.
