A pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Jan. 31 just south of the Interstate 5 Bridge was identified Tuesday as 26-year-old Liam David Ollila.

The Oregon Medical Examiner’s Office notified Ollila’s family of his death. A Feb. 5 death notice in The Columbian states Ollila was from Clackamas, Ore.

Ollila was struck in the southbound lanes while attempting to cross the freeway, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

A previous police bureau statement said officers were dispatched to the crash at 8:19 p.m. and found Ollila had died.

Officers initially believed the driver of the vehicle had remained at the scene. However, the police bureau later said that the drivers who stayed at the scene were not involved in the crash; the driver who hit Ollila left the scene before officers arrived and did not return.

The police bureau’s Traffic Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate.
