The Clark County Sheriff’s office reported a 2-year-old died after drowning in a creek east of La Center on Saturday afternoon.

A family placed a 911 call reporting their child missing around 12:30 p.m. near 35412 N.E. Taylor Valley Road. Deputies located the child in a nearby creek in the opposite direction of where they had believed the child had gone initially.

Responding officers and medics performed CPR and life-saving measures before a LifeFlight arrived at 2:26 p.m. to transport the child to Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland

The child was pronounced dead later that afternoon, according to a representative from the sheriff’s office.
