Ridgefield’s Rocco Wright is The Columbian 2022 Week 7 prep football player of the week

Wright edges out Rafael Bauman of Hudson's Bay for honor

Ridgefield’s Rocco Wright is The Columbian 2022 Week 7 high school football player of the week.

Wright received 577 votes to beat out Rafael Bauman of Hudson’s Bay by 11 votes.

The junior rushed for 109 yards and scored four of the Spudders’ five touchdowns in a 35-21 win over Columbia River.

Winners of the player-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no player may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Five new nominees and a new vote begins on Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here is what the other Week 7 nominees accomplished:

RAFAEL BAUMAN, HUDSON’S BAY: The junior rushed for 271 yards and three touchdowns and had a 70-yard touchdown reception in the Eagles’ 28-21 win over Woodland.

RYAN CHARLTON, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN: The sophomore rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns and caught four passes for 53 yards in the Knights’ 42-29 win over Fort Vancouver.

TAYLOR IOANE, CAMAS: The senior passed for 356 yards and three touchdowns and added a touchdown run in Camas’ 36-33 win over Skyview.

AIDAN MILLER, PRAIRIE: The senior caught six passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns and had a 76-yard punt return for a score in the Falcons’ 48-14 win over Corvallis.
