Bartroff outdistances Camas' Taylor Ioane for weekly honor

Wyatt Bartroff of Ridgefield is The Columbian 2022 Week 4 high school football player of the week.

Bartroff received 505 votes to outdistanced Camas’ Taylor Ioane for the honor.

The senior lineman/linebacker had 12 tackles, forced three fumbles – recovering one – and returned a blocked field goal 84 yards for a TD in a win over Hudson’s Bay.

Winners of the player-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no player may be nominated in consecutive weeks. Nominees and voting for next week’s vote will be posted on Monday.

Here is what the other nominees accomplished last week:

KACEN BACH, STEVENSON: The junior quarterback passed for 104 yards and one touchdown, rushed for 82 and two TDs, had an interception and kicked the game-winning field goal in a win over Seton Catholic.

JOHN CHARLES, HOCKINSON: The senior caught three passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 88 yards and one TD, had a 54-yard kickoff return, a 35-yard field goal and six PAT kicks in a win over R.A. Long.

TAYLOR IOANE, CAMAS: The senior quarterback passed for 303 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 66 yards and two more scores in a win over Kelso.

GAVIN PACKER, SKYVIEW: The receiver caught two passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 94 yards for another score in a win over Kamiak.
