Prep roundup: Siena Brown leads Hockinson girls to win at Surf ‘N Slam tournament

Senior Siena Brown had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals despite fouling out with four minutes to go as the Hockinson girls basketball team held on to beat Christian of El Cajon, Calif., 38-36 on Saturday in the Surf ‘N Slam tournament in La Jolla, Calif.

Hockinson built a 12-point lead at halftime, then had to hold out while battling foul trouble.

Brown, Zieynita Stidum and Olivia Cochenour had to sit out the majority of the third quarter with four fouls each, allowing Christian of El Cajon, Calif., to cut the deficit to five points.

Stidum finished with seven points, three rebounds and four steals.

SETON CATHOLIC 54, WILLAPA VALLEY 24 — Madison Lee scored 14 points and Riley Seymour as Seton won its second game at the Ilwaco Holiday Classic.

The Cougars jumped out to a 24-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Lee and Seymer were selected to the all-tournament team.

ETIWANDA 70, CAMAS 36 — The Papermakers dropped their third game to a top-ranked team from California, falling to Etiwanda of Rancho Cucamonga.

The Eagles forced 28 turnovers from Camas, resulting in 33 points off turnovers.

Addison Harris led Camas (8-6) with 11 points and five rebounds, and Riley Sanz added 10 points.

SOUTHRIDGE (Ore.) 75, SKYVIEW 44 — Kiera Parks made seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points as the Storm fell in the third-place game in the Emerald Bracket of the Portland Holiday Classic.

Boys basketball

KELSO 62, RIDGEFIELD 60 — Hayden Yore scored 20 points to lead the Hilanders to a win in the Cactus Jam in Phoenix.

Ridgefield hit 12 3-pointers to keep the game close. But the Hilander hit 6 of 9 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Ridgefield did not attempt a free throw the entire game.

Cole Chester and Drew Krsul hit four 3-pointers each. Chester finished with 14 points, and Krsul with 12. Jamison McCann also added 12 for the Spudders.

RENTON 81, BATTLE GROUND 75 — Trey Spencer scored 39 points as Battle Ground’s fourth-quarter comeback fell short.

Renton took a 48-26 lead into halftime

James Gill added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers. Boston Walker added eight assists.
