Various faith congregations and nonprofit organizations have joined together to expand the number of emergency shelter beds available to community members.
Both the Winter Hospitality Overflow shelters and the Satellite Overflow Shelters begin serving the community this month through March.
As of Jan. 3, Clark County offers just shy of 400 shelter beds year-round for residents. The collaboration between the faith groups and nonprofits will add an additional 100 overnight beds seven days per week.
Winter overnight shelters offer people a warm and safe location as the weather begins to get colder and wetter.
“We believe it is an honor to welcome people into our building, provide a hot meal and hospitality,” said Cheryl Pfaff of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. “All of the shelter partners do this year after year because we know it makes a difference in the lives of families and individuals in our community.”
