Prep highlights: Skyview soccer edges Prairie

Cameron Watson’s second-half goal was the eventual match-winner as Skyview girls soccer edged Prairie 2-1 in a non-league match on Monday.

Dylan Yates scored in the first half as Skyview took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Mya Ellertson assisted both goals for the Class 4A Storm (4-4-0)

Skyview goalkeeper Sam Groesbeck made seven saves to preserve the win.

Jules Staley converted a penalty kick for Prairie (5-3-1), which sits atop the 3A Greater St. Helens League by three points.

Stars of the day

  • Aurora Wiley, Columbia River slowpitch softball, went 4 for 4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI in a 19-6 win over Mark Morris.
  • Zena McKenzie, Union slowpitch softball, went 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and seven RBI in a 24-1 win over Battle Ground/Heritage.
  • Ava Rodman, R.A. Long slowpitch softball, went 3 for 3 with two home runs, 3 RBI and three runs in a 20-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Lyla Hart, Union girls soccer, scored two goals, including the match winner, in a 4-3 win over Gig Harbor.
  • Adrianne Agbayani, Evergreen girls soccer, had two goals and one assist in a 5-1 win over Heritage.
  • Alexis Echols, Evergreen volleyball, had 21 kills to lead the Plainsmen to a 3-1 win over Battle Ground.
  • Nadia Shepherd, Skyview volleyball, had 15 digs and 10 kills in a 3-1 win over Heritage.
  • Lydia Rutherford, Mountain View volleyball, had 14 kills and 13 digs in a 3-0 win over Union.
