Letter: Ways to improve democracy

By Keith Jacobs, Battle Ground

Mr. Munson’s letter about shutting down congressional pay when they can’t come together is just a starting point (Our Readers’ Views, Oct. 7). How about Congress’ health care being the exact same as those on Medicaid and Medicare? I would bet lower prescription prices and comprehensive health care would come into existence.

Next let’s link all congressional pay increases with federal hourly wage increases. Since 1990, congressional salaries have almost doubled. The same should be said about hourly wages.

There is always a starting point for improving democracy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
