Each week is a new test for the Hudson’s Bay football team.

Each week the Eagles have risen to the occasion.

Hudson’s Bay is 5-0 after beating Mark Morris 28-14 on Friday at Kiggins Bowl.

For all the different challenges teams in the 2A Greater St. Helens League can bring, Friday’s was the type Hudson’s Bay loves.

That’s because Mark Morris trudged out with its run-first physical offense against a Hudson’s Bay defense that doesn’t mind shoving back.

Mountain View 39, Evergreen 27

The Thunder’s offensive line paved the way for 270 rushing yards, including a game-high 171 and three touchdowns by Porter Drake. As noteworthy as Mountain View’s offense was, the defense stole the show to set the tone in the first half.

Battle Ground 24, Mount Tahoma 7

Jordan Young returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown, sparking Battle Ground to its first 5-0 start since 2012 with a 24-7 win over Mount Tahoma on Saturday in Tacoma.

Columbia River 45, R.A. Long 13

Chris Parkin rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns as Columbia River rallied for a slow start to rout R.A. Long 45-13 on Friday in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game in Longview.

Woodland 40, Hockinson 21

Elijah Andersen rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns while also racking up 102 yards receiving and one touchdown for Woodland.

Seton Catholic 35, Columbia-White Salmon 20

Jacob Williams rushed for a game-high 185 yards on eight carries, including two touchdown runs of 70 or more yards, to help keep the Cougars undefeated on the season at 5-0.

Kalama 36, Stevenson 7

Aiden Brown passed for 485 yards and four touchdowns as Kalama built a 36-0 lead by the third quarter.

La Center 48, King’s Way Christian 6

Houston Coyle threw four touchdown passes to help lead the Wildcats to a victory in their 1A Trico League opener and improve to 5-0 overall.

Camas 53, Kamiak 0

Trenton Swanson scored three touchdowns (one each on offense, defense and special teams) as Camas routed Kamiak 53-0 on Friday at Doc Harris Stadium.

Ridgefield 38, Washougal 28

The Spudders rushed for 301 yards and withstood a furious late Washougal rally to defeat the Panthers 38-28 at Fishback Stadium.

Prairie 36, Kelso 33

Braeden Slamp’s 33-yard field goal with six seconds to play gave the Prairie Falcons a 36-33 win over Kelso in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game Friday at District Stadium in Battle Ground.

Ian Burton scored two times and rushed for 144 yards and Trevor Rogen added two more passing touchdowns and the Castle Rock Rockets had no trouble with the visiting Trappers on Friday night.
