Boys Basketball Roundup: Olson scores school-record 45 as Mark Morris beats Fort Vancouver

Braydon Olson scored 45 points to break Mark Morris’ single-game record as the Monarchs beat Fort Vancouver 99-31 on Monday in Vancouver.

Olson beat a record set by Steve Trotter in 2002.

The Monarchs (11-6 overall) improved to a 2A Greater St. Helens League-leading 10-1.

HOCKINSON 54, WOODLAND 51 — Payton Poppe scored 16 points and the Hawks held off visiting Woodland in the final seconds.

Hockinson (9-6, 7-4) led by one with about 15 seconds to play when the Hawks were able to break Woodland’s press for a layup to go up by three.

Woodland tried to draw a foul on a 3-point attempt, but didn’t get a call.

Brett Martynowicz had 14 points, Sam Jeschke 13 and Elijah Andersen 11 for the Beavers (4-12, 2-9).

KELSO 81, PRAIRIE 57 — The Hilanders made eight 3-pointers in the first quarter to blitz to a 3A GSHL home win.

Hayden Yore scored 11 of his 29 points in the first quarter, which ended with Kelso ahead 32-16. THe Hilanders (11-4, 3-1) finished with 11 3-pointers.

Carson Morningstar scored 17 points to lead Prairie (7-7, 2-2).

BATTLE GROUND 84, MOUNTAIN VIEW 64 — Trey Spencer scored 23 points to lead the Tigers to a non-league win at home.

Battle Ground made 12 3-pointers. Ian Ebinger and Jacob Renfroe each made three shots from behind the arc and finished with nine points.

James Gill added 13 points and Noah Currie scored 12 points for Battle Ground (5-8).

Leading 37-32 at halftime, the Tigers took control by outscoring Mountain View 25-6 in the third quarter.

Daniel Dolev scored 28 points to lead the Thunder (5-10). He made eight of Mountain View’s 13 3-pointers.
