Two people seriously hurt in two-vehicle crash on Lower River Road

Two people were seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Lower River Road on Saturday evening.

At 8:07 p.m., the Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched to Lower River Road and Northwest Gateway Avenue. First responders found two vehicles that had sustained heavy damage, including one that went down a steep embankment into thick vegetation.

Firefighters used mechanical extraction tools to free one female from the vehicle that went down the embankment.

One female and one male were transported to area hospitals in serious condition. The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
