Employees at the Battle Ground Walmart reported to police Sunday they found a bank card skimmer attached to a register.

Illegal card skimmers are commonly used to read, store, access and obtain information encoded on bank cards without the owner’s consent. Staff said the skimmer may have been installed between 6 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Battle Ground Police Department.

The police department advises people who made purchases at the Walmart during this period to review their financial records. If you suspect your financial information has been compromised, contact 311 to file a report, the news release states.

The police department is working with Walmart to identify a suspect in the case.
