The National Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation hosted its Java For Justice Brunch on Friday for the first time since 2020. Keynote speaker Elizabeth Smart shared her story about being abducted at 14 years old, and how the media intervened to help bring her home nine months later.

The Java for Justice Brunch, attended by 250, raised $28,000 through a silent auction and donations.

“Through visibility, advocacy, and the media, we have made a difference in thousands of lives since we founded NWCAVE over a decade ago,” NWCAVE president and founder Michelle Bart said in a press release.
