Letter: NW Natural rates draw attention

By Arthur Ungar, Vancouver

Could it be that NW Natural is trying to influence voters to kill the Climate Commitment Act of 2021, the initiative on the November ballot? The act is intended to discourage use of polluting gas that is a major cause of the climate crisis. One fact particularly struck me in the excellent front-page report (“NW Natural charges get customers’ attention,” The Columbian, March 9): “NW Natural proposed including two years’ worth of costs in a single year’s rates, resulting in larger bills than those of other utilities.”
