Prep highlights: Bay/Heritage slowpitch gets walkoff to set up sweep

Reese Stevenson ended the first game with a walk-off double setting the stage for Hudson’s Bay/Heritage slowpitch softball to sweep Evergreen on Wednesday.

Stevenson drove in Gracie Peterson with one out in the bottom of the fifth to clinch an 11-10 win.

That came two batters after Skyler Jones tied the game with a solo inside-the-park home run. Jones went 4 for 4 with four RBI in the first game.

Hudson’s Bay/Heritage led 9-0 after two innings. But Evergreen rallied for eight runs in the top of the fifth to take a 10-9 lead.

Marly Maiava went 4 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI for the Plainsmen.

Hudson’s Bay/Heritage won the second game 6-0. Stevenson went 3 for 4 to go a combined 5 for 7 with four RBI and two doubles. Nova Benson went 4 for 4 in the second game.

Stars of the day

  • Mercy Shaw, Camas slowpitch softball, went 2 for 2 with a home run and five RBI in a 10-7 win to earn a split in a doubleheader against Columbia River. She also homered in the first game.
  • Nivayah Henry, Skyview slowpitch softball, went 4 for 4 with a home run and five RBI in an 18-10 win over Mark Morris as the Storm remained undefeated.
  • Sophia Tumelty, Union slowpitch softball, the Titans leadoff hitter went 4 for 5 with two doubles and three runs scored in a 12-9 win over Kelso.
  • Mylee Burrows, Battle Ground/Washougal slowpitch softball, went a combined 7 for 7 with two doubles, a triple and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Fort Vancouver.
  • Vienna McCall, Fort Vancouver slowpitch softball, went 6 for 7 with five RBI in the doubleheader against Battle Ground/Washougal.
  • Kace Prindel, R.A. Long slowpitch softball, went 8 for 8 with eight RBI, three doubles, two triples and six runs scored in a doubleheader sweep over Mountain View.
  • Broden Toney, Mark Morris boys golf, shot a 2-under-par 34 for medalist honors at Camas Meadows in a 10-stroke team win over Union.
  • Sadie Levy, Skyview girls swimming, posted two 4A district qualifying times in winning the 50-yard freestyle in 26.85 seconds and 100 free in 59.97 at a meet against Mark Morris and Kalama.
  • Bailey Trahan, Skyview girls swimming, won the 100 back in a 4A district qualifying time of 1:04.17 in the meet against Mark Morris and Kalama. She also won the 200 individual medley in 2:22.68.
