Prep highlights: Skyview slowpitch softball rallies past R.A. Long with 7-run sixth inning

Taylor Lies and Camille Muehalbauer each went 4 for 4 at the plate as the Skyview slowpitch softball team pulled away to beat R.A. Long 13-6 in a matchup of top teams on Thursday.

Skyview (14-1) scored seven runs in the sixth inning, breaking a 6-6 tie. Lies hit a three-run home run to spark the Storm’s rally.

Following Lies’ blast, Malea Figueroa singled home Muehalbauer, who had reached on a single, and then scored on a fielder’s choice to make it 11-6. Kenzie Lakin drove in two runs with the second of her two doubles to complete the scoring.

R.A. Long (13-4) had a four-game win streak snapped.

Stars of the day

  • Mercy Shaw, Camas slowpitch softball, was 3 for 3 with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored in the Papermakers’ 14-4 win over Mountain View.
  • Avery Mackin, Kelso slowpitch softball, finished a big week at the plate by going 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs in a 10-2 win over Heritage/Hudson’s Bay. She went 12 for 13 overall in four wins.
  • Chloe Shove, Evergreen slowpitch softball, was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI as the Plainsmen beat Prairie 10-1.
  • Avery Carpenter, Mark Morris slowpitch softball, was 3 for 3 with a double, three RBI and scored three runs in a 13-1 victory over Battle Ground/Washougal.
  • Olivia Alvord and Sydney Stimmel, Columbia River girls soccer, each had a goal and assist to help the Rapid beat Mark Morris 5-0 and take sole possession of first place in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.
  • Lilah Chase, Seton Catholic girls soccer, scored three goals and had two assists in a 7-0 over Columbia of White Salmon.
  • Lauren Clary, Washougal girls soccer, had two goals in the Panthers’ 3-1 win over Hudson’s Bay.
  • Riley Schultz, La Center girls soccer, scored both goals for the Wildcats to beat Kalama 2-1.
  • Shaylie Haij, King’s Way Christian girls soccer, scored a hat trick as the Knights shut out Fort Vancouver 4-0.
  • Esther Langeliers, La Center volleyball, made 12 kills to go with three blocks and two digs in the Wildcats’ sweep of Kalama.
  • Tatyana Fobi, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had 15 assists, seven digs and five aces in the Knights’ 3-0 victory over Fort Vancouver.
  • Aly Ordona, Seton Catholic volleyball, had a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs as the Cougars swept Columbia of White Salmon.
