Prep highlights: Jordis Taylor, Heritage volleyball team outlast Battle Ground in five sets

Jordis Taylor had 24 kills, Peyton Quarles tallied 22 assists and Anna Le had 23 digs to propel the Heritage volleyball team to a five-set win against Battle Ground in a non-league match Thursday.

Trailing 2-1 after dropping the first and third sets, the Timberwolves stormed back for a 23-25, 25-16, 18-25, 25-8, 15-7 win.

In addition to a team-high in kills, Taylor filled the stat sheet with 9 assists, 18 digs, and 5 aces. Quarles added 9 digs and 2 aces, while Le had 3 assists and aces.

Heritage also got contributions from Alicia Arredondo (6 kills, 1 block, 1 ace), Kyleah Waddle (5 aces) and Abrielle Olson (9 digs).

The Timberwolves (6-5) resume 3A Greater St. Helens League play with a match against Kelso on Oct. 22. The Tigers (1-8) return to action Oct. 24 against Evergreen.

  • Kennedy Brandenburg, La Center girls soccer, scored two second-half goals in the Wildcats’ 5-1 win over Stevenson.
  • Gracie Jacoby, Prairie volleyball, tallied 11 kills, 2 aces and 7 digs as part of the Falcons’ three-set sweep over Mountain View.
  • Paige Hanes, Ridgefield volleyball, had 12 kills and three digs in a three-set sweep of Woodland.
  • Sophia Gourley, Columbia River volleyball, posted a team-high 21 kills to lead the Rapids to a sweep of R.A. Long.
  • Shaylie Haij, King’s Way Christian girls soccer, totaled 2 goals and 1 assist in a 6-1 win over Castle Rock.
  • Marlee Buffham and Tori Lasch, Ridgefield girls soccer, each had 2 goals and 1 assist in a 6-0 defeat over Mark Morris.
  • CJ Moore, Seton Catholic girls soccer, scored a hat trick and added one assist as the Cougars topped Kalama 5-0 to stay undefeated.
  • Abby Stalkup, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had 5 blocks, 5 kills and 5 aces in a sweep of Castle Rock.
  • Bridget Brennan, Hockinson girls soccer, accounted for each goal in a 4-0 win over Washougal with a hat trick and 1 assist.
  • Bailey España, La Center volleyball, dished out 23 assists with 7 kills, 3 blocks and 3 digs in a 3-1 win over Stevenson.
  • Paige Dangleis, Hockinson girls swimming, won the 50 free and 100 breaststroke in a multi-team meet in Longview.
  • Natalie Grajeda and Rhiannon Teasley, Camas girls soccer, combined to make seven saves in goal for a 2-0 win over Union.
  • London Hutchinson, McKenzie Hallenbeck and Alina Shawgo, Skyview volleyball, each played key roles in the Storm’s 3-1 win against Union. Hutchinson posted 20 digs and 1 ace, Hallenbeck tallied 38 assists, 11 digs, 3 kills, 2 aces and 1 block, while Shawgo had a team-high 16 kills with 2 blocks, 2 aces, 2 digs and 1 assist.
