Steps are you taking to build your business: The Achesons said they have been working to establish an online presence.

Greatest challenge: Sherry Acheson said communicating to her customers that her store offers competitive pricing to compete with the big-box stores is her greatest challenge. The Achesons belong to the Brand Source buying group, which combines the purchases of all member stores to give them greater buying power.

What is your favorite part of the job: Being able to take care of all of our customers' needs, they said. Along with in-home repair service and installation, the Appliance Clinic offers financing and service contracts.

What's ahead: The Achesons been given the OK to expand their territory into the Portland market.
