Man's jump from I-5 Bridge was 'recreational'
Jumper quickly gets himself out of water, dispatchers say

Fire crews responded Tuesday to a report of a man who jumped from the Interstate 5 bridge at 9:17 a.m.
The man was seen floating down the Columbia River near the Red Lion at the Quay, according to 911 dispatchers.
Fire crews mobilized a rescue effort.
Capt. Kevin Murray, a spokesman for the Vancouver Fire Department, said the man, 38, had gotten himself out of the water as firefighters arrived. It was a “recreational jump,” Murray said.
Washington State Patrol shut down the right southbound lane of I-5 for about 10 minutes, spokesman Trooper Will Finn said.
The man agreed to be taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
