NEW YORK (AP) — Royal Lahaina pulled a 13-1 upset on Friday in the $300,000 Go For Wand Handicap for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
The 5-year-old trained by Todd Pletcher took charge with a three-wide sweep at the top of the lane, and held off the late-running Centring by 212 lengths. Jose Ortiz was aboard as Royal Lahaina went the mile in 1:36.56 for her seventh win in 25 starts, paying $28.20, $9.50 and $5.
Centring returned $3.50 and $2.80 as the 2-1 favorite. My Pal Chrisy paid $3.30 to show.
