A Vancouver man was transported to the hospital in a Life Flight helicopter Saturday after his motorcycle left a southbound lane of Interstate 5 in Kelso and struck a barrier.

Gary Campbell Jr., 52, was driving a 2006 red Yamaha XV19 just before 5 p.m. when the motorcycle veered off the freeway and hit a guardrail and a cable barrier, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. The crash occurred just south of exit 39.

Campbell was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to WSP. He was in satisfactory condition Sunday afternoon.

The crash is under investigation. Campbell was wearing helmet, and drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash, according to the news release.
