A detached garage was destroyed in an early morning blaze in the Vancouver Heights neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to 9104 Boulder Ave. about 4:45 a.m. Wednesday and found a garage on fire when they arrived, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said.

Crews stopped the fire from spreading to the home, but Scarpelli said that the structure was a total loss, with an estimated $80,000 in damage to the structure and contents.

“Due to the structural instability of the structure itself, we were unable to conduct the investigation,” Scarpelli said. “Based on our information, (the fire’s cause is) going to be ruled undetermined.”
