Letter: Name should reflect history of area

The Columbian
Published: July 24, 2015, 5:00pm

I write this in response to the suggestion in Gordon Oliver’s July 12 column “Strictly Business: What’s in a name for waterfront?” for a naming contest for Vancouver’s new waterfront development. I suggest the name Cathlamet Cove for the following reasons. The name honors the Native Americans who found this region so hospitable and prosperous. It is contiguous with the choice of our neighbors, Camas and Washougal: Chinook Landing. It lends distinction and a lyric tone to the cosmopolitan purpose of the park.
