Letter: Evil permitted to stir up repentance

The elephant in the living room in regards to ISIS and world confusion should embarrass rational people. How many of the political powers and news pundits ever think that God has anything to do with the affairs of men? Or is He unmentionable?

The Bible explains why God permits evil forces to arise in formerly illuminated nations such as Israel and Western nations including the U.S. We have been privileged to have a great heritage of truth but we have abused our privilege.

Read from I Chronicles 5:26. God stirred up the spirit of a wicked king to chastise Israel. In II Chronicles 21:16, God “stirred up the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabians” (yes, Arabs) to attack decadent Judah. Well, God has stirred up the spirit of the Muslim extremists and many other forces to awaken our society which has mostly forgotten God, and no amount of armaments and military skill can withstand those wicked warriors.

God is using them to call us to repentance. Yes. A good and gracious God knows that a disaster of war, suicide bombers and decapitators is not equal to the far greater disaster of spiritual decline.
