Hudson’s Bay — The Rotary Club of Vancouver Metro Sunset donated $10,000 to the Vancouver Police Activities League from funds generated by the club’s Once Upon a Prom fundraiser in May.

The presentation was made by Rotary members, including President Kimberly Pinchiera and Rebecca Blaisdell, the past president who oversaw the prom fundraiser. Supporting the league is a major community project for the Rotary, according to a release from the club.

The league supports 2,500 children in Vancouver Public Schools and Evergreen Public Schools through programs that distribute books to second- and third-graders, mentor middle and high school students, and organize sports leagues for kids.

Other proceeds from the Rotary fundraiser will go toward Martin Luther King Elementary School’s “No Excuses University” program and a Rotary International sanitation grant sponsored by several local Rotary clubs.
