BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Quinton Doggett had 14 points, leading four double-figure scorers as Southern University beat Loyola-New Orleans of the NAIA 73-68 on Thursday night in the Jaguars’ first home game since the season-opener.

Derick Beltran and Jameel Grace added 13 points apiece while Cameron Monroe had 10 for the Jaguars (4-9), who snapped a season-high four game losing skid in victory.

Tonight was Southern’s first game in Baton Rouge since opening the campaign with a 67-48 win over Dillard College, another NAIA school, on Nov. 11. Southern played in a pair of early-season tournaments, along with seven true road games, between home contests.

The Jaguars nearly let this one slip away, trailing 63-61 with 5:44 left. But Beltran knocked down a 3-pointer that fueled a 12-5 run the rest of the way that made the difference.

Corey Gray scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Wolfpack (8-5).
