Mountain View — Abby Binshaieg, a graduate of Mountain View High School and a student at American University in Washington, D.C., took the ride of his life in May. He was part of a group of 28 cyclists who rode 800 miles across the length of Florida, from Miami to Tallahassee. The Gear Up Florida team was made up of members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Each cyclist committed to raising $2,000 for people with disabilities, and during the trip they conducted “friendship visits” including dances, basketball games and sailing outings. The ride was organized by Push America, which organizes Gear Up Florida each May. Pi Kappa Phi founded Push America in 1977.
