COSMOPOLIS, Wash. (AP) — Cosmopolis Mayor Vickie Raines says it appears that repairs to a leaking effluent line at a pulp mill will have to wait until heavy rains pass.
KXRO reports (http://bit.ly/shJ62t ) the leak occurred Sunday afternoon at the Cosmo Specialty Fibers plant.
Repairs will involve restricting traffic on Highway 101.
There also was a leak in the effluent line in October with foam gurgling out of the ground.
The Cosmo mill reopened earlier this year under a new owner after being closed four years. It makes a pulp that is combined with other materials to create a variety of products, including plastics and rayon for clothing.
